Where filmmaking meets the spoken word.

During the summer of 2008, the Drammeh Institute launched a six week intensive course in filmmaking and language arts for high school age youth in the Bronx through a generous Impact Grant from the United Way of New York City.

The program, now entering its third year, offers creative inter-generational exchanges that give youth the opportunity to work one-on-one with industry professionals, and learn how to transform media technology and language content into powerful instruments of communication.

As a literacy intensive experience, the program instructs students on "ways of seeing" that strengthen approaches to articulating points of view through the moving image, and the spoken word, also known as performance poetry.
