During the summer of 2008, the Drammeh Institute, in cooperation with award
winning filmmakers, spoken word artists and other personalities will launch its six week intensive course in filmmaking
and spoken word development for high school youth in the Through support from the As a literary intensive project, the program instructs on ways of seeing that
strengthen communication skills and approaches to, articulating visually through film, and linguistically through the spoken
word. With this interdisciplinary approach,
students will explore content that is relevant to their lives, which has been proven to be the most effective way to motivate
learning processes. By defining the world around them and creating original works, students can
transform technology and literary content into powerful instruments of communication.

Project Goals The Project is designed to meet core standards in language arts and technology
by supporting the following curriculum goals: - Develop composition and vocabulary skills - Motivate original critical thinking and creative writing - Utilize technology as a tool for communication

Classes * Filmmaking With additional support from the Media Studies
Department of Harry S. Truman High School, and All Brite Stars,
students will be encouraged to speak of the things that matter in their world and advocate on their own behalf about how to
make things better. The movement of youth to youth, and youth to professionals, will come full circle to healthy youth to
